DEVLOG !!!

This page is a way for me personally to keep track of my progress with the site as well as a to-do list/reflection on what I'm up to!! It's more for me but I hope you enjoy my thoughts too :D

- I HAVE DONE IT!! I have successfully managed to set up a page with a funtioning CSS grid (using a linked style sheet) AND flexboxes!! using THIS tutorial for the grid and THIS guide for setting up the flex boxes
- Learned how to apply custom borders using THIS tutorial, and also looking at what a friend of mine had done. I havent tried any of the wonkier commands yet though
- It helped to have a testing page I didn't have to worry about making look nice and presentable, like my homepage or this devlog so I probably won't be turning it into anything for now. I guess it'll serve as the coding equivalent of scratch paper!
- For the sake of the devlog however you can check out my work HERE for the webpage and HERE for the CSS style guide!
- As I was working on this I also found THIS handy-dandy little tool to help me learn/reference a bunch of HTML tags! It's been really nice to be able to search up tags as they come up!!

- Took a few days break for the weekend! Back to work
- No major updates to the website today but some plans/maps have been made for the next steps! Currently have plans for implementing a welcome splash screen
- Spent most of today trying to learn how to make a CSS grid along with a style sheet but honestly got super stumped and frustrated. Trying to figure out where verything is supposed to go is super overwhelming but I'm sure I'll get it soon!
- Took the time to doodle out some asset ideas and browse other sites for help and tips. It's so awesome how willing everyone is to share their resources! It's really helped me a lot :D

- The devlog is real!! And it has functioning drop down things!! (The code calls them summaries/details but I don't know what to actually call them oops)
- I've polished up this page and linked it to my homepage so people can move back and forth between the two (baby's first navigation!! OMG!!!)
- Added some pride flag stamps by Futurefishy I'm not sure I'll keep them long term but I like them for now!!
- Added a decoration to the devlog page (using THIS guide) I used the devlog page bc the homepage is still a bit too short to test out the position fixed command that I wanted. I figured the entries and scrolling here would give him more to do :D
-I'm curently unsure about where to go from here in terms of learning. I guess Javascript? That seems to be where all the Fun Stuff comes from, but also sounds a little overwhelming :(
- I'll spend today looking at more assets and decor and inspo to help me get a better feel of the direction I want to go in

- Today I loosely followed THIS tutorial by CINNIMANI to make my page look a little nicer. I understood what all the code did, but I wanted an example of what the code for a more spruced up page was like- kind of like using references when drawing!
- Added a song of the week link! I think someday I want to have a dedicated page for that
- I ADDED AN IMAGE !!! SUCCESSFULLY!!! ON MY OWN!! I took a guess at how you're supposed to implement the files on Neocities and I was RIGHT!!! I'm so happy with my little sheep
- Added an "about me" and "favourites" section to the homepage so people can know a little more about me!
- Tomorrow I want to focus on making a devlog page (that functions and looks good) to keep track of everything I'm doing (It sounds so fun and official!!!!)
- I also want to implement some more decorative elements! Maybe some more pictures or stamps? I'm not sure yet

14-July-2026

- The website is up!! I just followed the basic Neocities tutorial to get the homepage (it's called the index!!) up and running
- I think I have a pretty good grasp on the barebones HTML and CSS stuff! I have a cute coloured background now!!
- I got really lost during the Javascript tutorials (I couldn't manage to get any of my buttons to work) So I think I'll be saving learning JS for another day- valiant first effort though!!
- My next step is trying to give the website a little more form and personality and making it look nice, maybe I'll add some pictures and a border!!
